This 160 acre highway oriented tourist destination mixed use masterplan was developed during a 2 day charrette. Representatives from Trillium Corporation, Disney Development (Prive-Harrison), Knotts Berry Farm (Terry Van Gorder, President) and the president of Six Flags Parks participated. A story was developed of a growing homestead that evolves into a demonstration of the bounty of the northwest, including agriculture, timber and fishing.

The owners wanted a plan for the adaptive reuse of an existing 24,000 sq. ft. 3 story, industrial building built in 1929 on a brownfield waterfront site. This Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) office building involved numerous consultants to brainstorm all of the possible design methods to achieve a more sustainable design in an economical fashion for this speculative, private development.
This 85 acre unimproved area within city limits needed a density of 739 homes to be economically feasible according the the property owner. We held a two day charrette for the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community with Tribal Leaders, Administration and consultants which resulted in unanimous agreement for a Master Plan with Phase One, including a new hotel and casino expansion. Due to the collaborative involvement of all, construction started on a fast track basis four months later!
Whatcom Hospice Foundation serves terminally ill people and their families in Northwest Washington State. They hosted a one day charrette with participation from hospital administrators, caregivers, fundraisers, contractors and architects to determine the scope of a program for the adaptive reuse of a former juvenile and community center, with the intention of transforming it into a caring Hospice Facility.
When Whatcom Hills Waldorf School in Bellingham, WA needed to expand, they had us host a two day charrette to create long range planning for school campus expansion. With teachers and parents jointly participating in the process, we designed the long range plan and the Phase One expansion for additional classrooms and recreation areas, reaching unanimous agreement on the design during the 2nd day charrette.
